SOA-8 - State-of-the-Art Lecture
SOA8: Taking stock of the role of the microbiome in urinary disease

Saturday June 25, 2022 | 11:50 to 12:20
Room: Bedeque & Cardigan

Learning Objectives

As a result of attending this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand that the microbiome of the urinary and intestinal systems remains an intense area of urology research because it offers an opportunity to better understand disease mechanisms, potentially provide biomarkers and enhance therapy.
  2. Understand that we need to better consider more the functional aspects of what the microbiota does such as providing micronutrients in order to improve health outcomes.
  3. Comprehend that changing the microbiome for patient benefits has its challenges. While some positive changes can be delivered through diet and nutrition, more extreme measures may be required in some cases.
